Throughout college there are many different things you must accomplish to obtain a good education. During college some classes are harder than others. To get through it all, it is good to have a large network of various connections. From professors to fellow students it’s good to get to know them. In the future this could help when needing a letter of recommendation or help on a project.
As a freshman I feel that it’s a good idea to start your college life of by getting to know all your professors or TA’s. By doing this, it will help in the years to come. On the first few days of class it’s good just to go up and shake hands with your instructor and just introduce yourself. Even this little bit of effort can go a long way.
Even as you go through the years it’s good to keep in touch with your instructors. Whether it’s a question on a homework problem or getting help on a project, your instructors can usually help. If they can’t they can usually lead you to a source that could.
I think since I have been interacting with many faculty members within my major that it will sure help out. With the many different members of my major, it is hard to get to know all of them. I have tried to get to know a few of them at various club lunches’ we have or at the peer mentor meetings.
As the many more months of college that I have left, I feel that it’s good to get to know my instructors for future reference. Especially when it comes to applying for jobs, letter of recommendations will be huge. With a large network, it would not be hard to get them. In my future I hope to further and expand my connections with instructors and faculty members.
